Johnny Glenn
Blackston
Nov 2, 1965 — Sep 30, 2024
SCRANTON
Johnny Glenn Blackston of Scranton, KS went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 30th, 2024, after a brief but brave battle with cancer. Johnny was born in Brighton, CO on November 2, 1965, to Johnnie and Frances Blackston. He spent all his childhood and most of his adult life living and working on the Turkey Farm in Hudson, CO. He loved working on the farm with his dad and cherished every
moment. Johnny joined the Hudson Volunteer Fire Dept. in 1984, and that was his true passion in life. He was a pillar of the community and bravely served for over 23 years, never hesitating to help anyone in need. He truly loved being a Firefighter and Fire Chief. He was fondly looked up to and an incredible mentor to all the firefighters in his department.
Johnny married Karol Pittman on December 6, 1985, and they had four amazing children together. JJ, Kolt, Max and Krystal.
On March 21, 2009, he married Melony Arnold and became the most incredible stepdad to her two children Paige and Calvin although he has never been considered their stepdad, just always their dad. They also brought a beautiful daughter Gracie into their lives in May of 2008. Johnny and Melony were married for 15 blissful years. She and his seven children were the light of his life. He loved to tell everyone that Mel was his Angel and how proud he was of her, and all of his kids. He was a family man in every aspect. He loved watching his children in any and all activities they were involved in whether it be football, soccer, basketball, volleyball, softball, or 4-H. He would drive 15 hours without hesitation just to support them. He also loved spending time with his family fishing and camping at the lake. He was blessed with amazing grandkids Taelor, Aubrey, Maxie, Kinlee, Autumn, Preston, Cameron, Autumn, and has two more precious granddaughters on the way.
Johnny worked several jobs in his life including running the turkey farm, being a Fire Chief, heavy equipment operator, foreman, truck driver, and truck driver instructor. He was truly incredible at anything he did and left a huge impression on anyone who knew him. No matter what job he was doing he took great pride in everything he did. He was a plethora of knowledge and jack of all trades.
Johnny was either a man of very few words, or a man of so many words he could talk for hours. He loved his long calls with his kids, and sisters. He was a great storyteller, and loved to tell stories from the fire department, especially to the kids. Even though it could have been the 100th time he told the story they hung on every word, and they will cherish those stories forever. He was truly their hero.
He was the most incredible husband, father, papa, son, brother, and uncle. He was truly an amazing soul and will be greatly missed.
Johnny is survived by his Wife Melony Blackston, Children JJ Blackston (Katrina), Kolt Blackston (Talissa Morgan), Krystal Blackston-Adams (Kevin Adams), Paige Tobler (Dustin), Calvin Blackston (Tristan Shown), and Gracie Blackston, Mother Frances Blackston, Sisters Jackie Beckvermit (Tom), Shawn Ramsey (Greg Eirish), Grandchildren Taelor, Aubrey, Maxie, Kinlee, Autumn, Preston, Cameron, Autumn,
