Obituary

Carbondale--John Nichols, 84, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2020 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas following a battle against cancer. He was born on July 25, 1935 on the family farm near Carbondale, Kansas, the son of Louis and Cora Peterson Nichols.
John had lived all of his life on the farm near Carbondale and graduated from Carbondale High School.
John served in the Kansas Army National Guard for 36 years, owned and operated a mowing service for 30 years, assisted his wife reading meters and farmed. He was a member of the Overbrook American Legion Post #239 and Grace Chapel Church in Carbondale.
On September 3, 1960, John was united in marriage to Carolyn Siecgrist in Carbondale.
John is survived by his wife, Carolyn; his three children, Kevin (Lisa) Nichols, Kerwin (Bev) Nichols and Melanie (Brad) Campbell; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his sister, Ruth Towne, all of Carbondale.
A private family graveside service will be held at Ridgeway Cemetery, east of Carbondale. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Chapel (for Operation Christmas Child Shoebox), sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Avenue, Lyndon, KS. 66451.
