Carbondale - John Wayne "Johnny" Barr, 77, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2024,10 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka, Kansas. He was born on October 16, 1946, in Garnett, Kansas, the son of Virgil and Imogene (Eyman) Barr.

Johnny had grown up in Burlingame and had lived in Carbondale for several years.

Johnny had worked in the construction trade. He loved Chiefs Football, fishing and all of the dogs that he had throughout the years. He also loved spending time with his grandkids.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Imogene; his two brothers, Danny Barr and Terry Barr; and his sister, Sandra Stewart.

Johnny is survived by his son, Virgil (Lindsay) Barr of Scranton; his two daughters, Sherry (Scott) Lester and Candy Barr, all of Scranton; his two brothers, Gary (Pat) Barr and Jack (Denise) Barr; his three sisters, Joyce (Larry) Manthe, Mary (Alvin) Bogren and Shari (Tom) Untz; a brother-in-law, Bud Stewart; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Graveside memorial services for Johnny will be at 11:00am on Saturday, March 2 at the Burlingame Cemetery. A lunch, with all welcome, will follow at the Schuyler Annex (117 S. Dakota St in Burlingame). Memorial contributions may be made to the John Barr Memorial Fund, sent to Candy Barr, 118 S. Topeka Avenue, Scranton, KS 66537. Feltner Funeral Home is assisting the family.
