Andover--Janet (Mustard) Gilliland, 73, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018 in Wichita, Kansas. She was born on July 11, 1944 in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Thomas and Esther Maye Davison Mustard.
Jan grew up in Wichita and graduated high school in 1962. She attended Emporia State University and received her Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education in 1966. She earned her elementary certificate and taught 6th grade in the Gardner Schools for 3 years. In 1974 Jan moved to Lyndon where she taught 5th grade for 23 years until her retirement in 2005. She earned her Masters Degree from Emporia State University in 1985. She was a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority, where she was affectionately known as "Mow".
On January 21, 1967 Jan was married to Delton Gilliland in Wichita.
Jan was preceded in death by her husband Delton on September 29, 2010; and by her parents, Thomas and Esther Maye.
Jan is survived by her three children, Stephany (Pat) Hughes of Leon, Lindy (Karl) May of Clearwater and Josh Gilliland of San Diego, California; her two sisters, Susan (Darrel) Gilliland of Topeka and Nancy (Bob) Rozzelle of Andover; five grandsons, Ian Hughes, Quinn Hughes, Parker May, Colin Hughes and Brody May.
Funeral services for Jan will be at 2:00pm on Saturday, June 2 at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. Burial will be in the Lyndon Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30pm Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lyndon Alumni Association or The ARC of Sedgwick County, sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Avenue, Lyndon, KS. 66451.
