Jacob George Weimer, Jr., 76, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Newman Regional Health in Emporia, Kansas. He was born on April 14, 1947, in Olivet, Kansas, the son of Jacob and Erma (Jones) Weimer.

George had lived most of his life in the Olivet community and had graduated in the last class from Olivet High School in 1965.

After high school, George joined the United States Marine Corps and served from 1965 to 1969. He served in Vietnam from 1966 to 1967 and was discharged as a Corporal. He returned home and began work as a heavy equipment operator on the Melvern Dam. He worked bridge construction for several companies as a Crane Operator and Bridge Superintendent. He was a member of the American Legion Post #317 in Melvern for over 50 years.

On June 30, 1967, George was united in marriage to Norma Catlin in Las Vegas, Nevada. To this union two children were born, Shane and Shauna.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Erma.

George is survived by his wife Norma of 56 years; his son, Shane (Beth) Weimer of Melvern; his daughter, Shauna Jones of Melvern; his two sisters, Pat (Terry) Lightle of Topeka and Sandy (Doran) Sedgwick of Lyndon; his four grandchildren, Chase Jones, Josey Weimer, Carson Jones and Jake Weimer; and a great-grandchild, Sawyer Isch.

Funeral services for George will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, November 4 at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. Burial will be in Alpine Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00pm on Friday at the funeral home.
