Ottawa - Howard Eugene Driver, 84, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Advent Health in Ottawa, Kansas. He was born on March 2, 1940, on the family farm near Pomona, Kansas, the son of Roy and Hannah (Windett) Driver.

Howard grew up and lived around Pomona and Quenemo for many years. He had lived in Ottawa for the last 30 years.

Howard served in the United States Navy, farmed and then worked for Ottawa Truck as a Line Worker and then worked for Wal-Mart in Ottawa.

Howard was married to Jeanne (Baume) Smith on July 29, 2000, at the Ottawa First United Methodist Church.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Hannah; by his six brothers, Bill, who was KIA in WWII, John, Don, Dick, Joe and Jim Driver; and his sister, Peggy Friesen.

Howard is survived by his wife, Jeanne of 24 years; his three stepchildren, Andy Smith of Kansas City, Missouri, Kari Widler of Greeley and Alan Smith of Independence, Missouri; his sister, Veda Rogers of Colorado; three step grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Howard will be at 11:00am on Friday, February 7 at the Ottawa First United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00am until service time. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Quenemo.
