Harold C. Brecheisen, 86, passed away on Sunday September 28, 2014 at the Osage Nursing Center in Osage City, KS. He was born on March 8, 1928 on the family farm south of Vassar, the son of Vivian and Verna Redenbaugh Brecheisen.

Harold grew up on the family farm with nine siblings, expecting to farm the rest of his life. He lived in Osage City, New Mexico and Sierra Vista, AZ. then returned to Osage City.

Harold graduated from Kansas State University with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1957 and became a veterinary inspector in the Sioux City,IA. stockyards. In 1960 he started his own practice in Osage City, selling it in 1967 due to health reasons. He was a real estate agent from 1975 to 1979 in Osage City. He was a member of the Vassar United Methodist Church and the American Veterinary Medical Association.

on January 1, 1952, Harold was married to Nancy Monfort in Osage City. They later divorced in 2008.

Harold was preceded in death by a son, Dale Brecheisen in 1985; parents Vivian and Verna; three brothers, Danny, Leonard and Glen; four sisters Mabel Athon, Esther Johnson, Dorothy Lewis and an infant sister, Wilma.

Harold is survived by four children, Harold Brecheisen Jr.,of Laramie, WY.,` Ronald (Karen) Brecheisen of Greeley, CO., Margaret (Jim) Clay of Laramie, WY, and David (Dina) Brecheisen of Ft.Collins,CO.; two brothers, Wallace Brecheisen of Elephant Butte,NM and Larry Brecheisen of Conroe,TX.; a sister, Mildred McCreight of Lyndon; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services for Harold will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Vassar Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Vassar United Methodist Church, and sent care of Feltner Funeral Home at 818 Topeka Ave. Lyndon,Ks. 66451
