Glenn Robert Bauck passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016, doing what made him happy—working outside. He was born May 13, 1934 to Richard and Elsa (Peimann) Bauck. He graduated from Lyndon High School in 1952, and on May 1, 1954, he married his high school sweetheart,Velma Duff. Except for two years when Glenn was in the army, they spent their life on the farm at Vassar, Kansas. He and Velma operated a dairy farm and storage business. In the 1970s they oversaw the transformation of a portion of their farm into a complex that includes a motel, restaurant, and golf course. Glenn was an inventor at heart and was often drawing blueprints in his mind for devices to help in his farm work. He would spend many evenings reading books by authors such as Jefferson, Churchill, or Mark Twain, and he enjoyed discussing theories of government or issues in Bible and theology at the drop of a hat. He is preceded in death by his wife Velma of 60 years, his parents, his brother Harlan, and his sister Marie Laue. He is survived by their children Scott (Pam), Russ (Etta), Gail (Gene) Jarvis, and Toni (Larry) Wendling, his brother Ruben (Hedy), sister-in- law Barbara (Elmer) Tornquist, brother-in- law Tom Lewis, 14 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and their nephew and long-time business partners Keith and Nancy Persinger. Time invested in his children and grandchildren brought him great joy. Glenn will lie in repose at the home, 23055 S. Hwy 368, Vassar, Kansas on Sunday, May 8. The family will welcome visitors after 1:00 p.m. until the evening hours. Glenn was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Vassar, Kansas. Glenn will be given a Christian burial at the Zion Lutheran Church on Monday, May 9 at 11:00 a.m. Glenn's friends are invited to the parish hall an hour before service to share memories.
