Vassar--Gladys Pearl Streeter, 82, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at the Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. She was born on June 27, 1935 in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter Arthur and Lola Worford Ham.
Gladys had lived around Pomona Lake and Vassar for over 40 years. She worked as an Office Manager for Pomona State Park for 29 years. Gladys received her Associates Degree from Allen County and was the first to graduate from Allen County Outreach. She was a member of the Vassar United Methodist Church where she was Treasurer for many years, member of the United Methodist Women and was a Delegate for two National Conferences. She was a Lay Leader with Osage County Ministerial Association, was instrumental in the formation of Help House and Osage County Mental Health Association, was a member of the Kansas Prairie Pickers Association, Vassar Polecats, Red Hat Ladies and the Panic and Anxiety Connection.
On September 12, 1952, Gladys was married to Ben Streeter in Topeka, Kansas.
Gladys was preceded in death by a son, Guy Streeter on June 12, 2015 ; by her parents, Arthur and Lola; a grandson, Chad Barnhart; and a great-grandson, Bradly Dickey.
Gladys is survived by her husband Ben of the home; her daughter, Peggy (Don) Shaw of Osage City; her two sons, Ray (Jamette) Streeter of Vassar and Rex (Leanna) Streeter of Overbrook; her brother, Joe Ham of Topeka; 23 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services for Gladys will be at 11:00am on Friday, May 18 at the Vassar United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00pm on Thursday at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. Inurnment will be in Vassar Cemetery at a later date.
