Lyndon - Gary Lee Drake, 77, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. He was born on October 3, 1948, in Salina, Kansas, the son of Charles and JoAnne (Purkapile) Drake.

Gary grew up in a military family but lived in Lyndon for most of his life. He graduated from Lyndon High School in 1966.

Gary worked for Hallmark Cards for 38 years until his retirement. He enjoyed playing baseball, softball, bowling and golf. He loved traveling and camping. In retirement, he built golf clubs and was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association and the State Director for 3 years. He attended the Osage City First United Methodist Church.

On May 16, 1970, Gary was united in marriage to Susan Woolery in Osage City. To this union two children were born, Cherie and Brian.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and JoAnne.

Gary is survived by his wife, Susan of 56 years; his daughter, Cherie Cox of Topeka; his son, Brian (Cindy) Drake of Lyndon; his brother, Charlie (Diann) Drake; his two granddaughters, Jennifer (Devin) Waller and Melissa (Cody) Colstrom; by his six great-grandchildren, Namiyah, Koah, Amarah, Maggie, Rhett and Whit; other relatives and friends.

Memorial services for Gary will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, July 11 at the Osage City First United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be in the Osage City Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30pm on Friday July 10th at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon.
