Kansas City, Missouri - Franklin "Frankie" Maxwill Poertner, 82, passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born on July 26, 1940, in Wamego, Kansas, the son of Maxwell and Marie (Baggs) Carley. He was adopted and raised by Fred and Mabel (Burkdoll) Poertner.

Frankie grew up around the Vassar community. He attended Vassar Grade School and Lyndon High School.

Frankie was united in marriage to Christine Berthot in 1970.

Frankie was preceded in death by his wife, Christine in 1976; his birth parents, Max and Marie; his adopted parents, Fred and Mabel; and by his brother, Harold Ed Poertner on December 29, 2017.

Frankie is survived by his niece, Gina Poertner of Shawnee; his nephew, Brian (Angel) Poertner of Osage City; his sister-in-law, Nancy Poertner of Osage City; his half-brother, Gary (Sharon) Rainwater of Bowie, Texas; his half-sister, Gail Sharp of Bowie, Texas; and many cousins.

Frankie was cremated and graveside memorial services will be at 4:30pm on Wednesday, September 20 at the Vassar Cemetery. A dinner will follow services at Green Acres Restaurant.
