Lyndon-Frank L. Nettleton, 81, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2015 at his home east of Lyndon. Frank was born September 5, 1933 the son of Eugene J. and Mildred A. Duff Nettleton in Lyndon.
Frank graduated from Lyndon High School in 1951. On September 5, 1951 Frank was united in marriage to Jennie Lee Goldsmith in Lyndon. Frank worked for the Santa Fe Railroad as a clerk. In 1957 he was called up from the Army Reserve to active duty to serve in Korea. He served with Battery "C" 2nd Howitzer Battalion 8th Artillery, he received the Good Conduct Medal, The Korea Defense Medal, and the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation. He had attained the rank of sergeant, and was Honorably Discharged in 1959.
He returned to work for the Santa Fe Railroad as a computer programmer analyst retiring in 1991 after 36 years. He was a member of the Masonic Euclid Lodge 101 A.F.& A.M. of Lyndon, the Scottish Rite and the Arab Shriners. He was a member of the Grace Community Church at Overbrook. Frank enjoyed farm, he always had a beautiful garden, he loved his mules and wagons, he traveled many a mile just on the roads of Osage county, he rode in all the 4th of July parades, and always brought Santa to Lyndon for the Christmas parade, and many trips around and across the state with his team and wagon.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jennie Lee on October 6, 2009; a grandson Tristen Nettleton on October 22, 1997 ; two sisters Dona Jones and Joanne Tipton.
Frank is survived by two sons, Tim Nettleton and Todd (Kim) Nettleton; one daughter, Tamara (Jerry) VandeVelde; two sisters, Lorraine (Al) Stevens and Verna Greer; 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Frank will held Tuesday June 2, 2015 at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon at 7:00p.m., visitation will be one hour prior to services. Inurnment will be in the Lyndon Cemetery. Memorial contributions made be made to the Eculid Lodge 101 and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave. Lyndon Ks. 66451.
