Florence Marian Stout,95, passed away on March 19,2015 at her home in Lyndon. She was born on November 29,1919 in Edgerton,Ks., the daughter of L.A. and Jettie Engel Green.
Florence had lived in the Kansas City area until moving to Lyndon in 1951, during the "51 Flood".
Florence graduated from Park College in Parkville,Mo., where she met her future husband, Niles Stout. She taught a variety of high school subjects in Carbondale, Elmdale, Reading, and Williamsburg. She was a member of the Lyndon United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women,and Vaction Bible School. She was a Brownie Leader, 4-H project leader, was active in the Osage County Historical Society, the American Cancer Society and was a Lyndon Carnegie Library Friend.
On May 27,1942 Florence was united in marriage to Niles Stout at Camp Forest in Tullahoma,Tn., where Niles was stationed.
Florence is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years Niles on September 14,2010; her sister Mary Davis; a daughter-in-law Elsie Stout; two sons-in-law, Kirk Wolford and Nick Dawson.
Florence is survived by her four sons Bill(Ellen)Stout of San Jose,CA., John Stout of Lyndon, David(Olga)Stout of Wichita and Jim(Deborah) Stout of Auburn; her four daughters, Mary Ann Dawson of Lyndon, Patricia(Jim)Flood,of Lakewood,Co., Carol(Bob)Culberston of New Strawn and Janet Stout of Lyndon; her two sisters, Ruth Saffell of Garden City and Virginia Higgins of Hutchinson; nineteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Florence will be at 10:30am on Friday March 27, at the Lyndon United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Lyndon Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Thursday at the Feltner Funeral Chapel.
