Carbondale--Ethel Marie Siecgrist, 97, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at a Topeka hospital. She was born on October 16, 1918 in rural Overbrook, the daughter of Chris and Freida Swanson Peterson.
Ethel had lived in the Carbondale and Hooterville areas all of her life.
Ethel worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield as an Underwriter. She attended the Grace Chapel Church in Carbondale.
On June 22, 1940, Ethel was married to Frank Siecgrist in Carbondale.
Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Frank on October 19, 1985 and by a daughter, Shirley Clark on December 10, 2012, and by two sisters, Pearl Wegner and Miller Schutter.
Ethel is survived by her son, Jerry (Linda) Siecgrist of Topeka; her daughter, Carolyn (John) Nichols of Carbondale; a son-in-law, William Clark of Carbondale; eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Ethel will be at 10:00am on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at the Grace Chapel Church in Carbondale. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Topeka. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made payable to the Ethel Siecgrist Memorial Fund, to be designated later.
