Obituary

Lyndon - Erven Walter "Butch" Weiss, Jr., 62, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka, Kansas. He was born on January 16, 1962, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Erven "Bud" and Erma (Adkins) Weiss, Sr.

Butch grew up and had lived near the Vassar and Lyndon communities most of his life. He graduated from Lyndon High School in 1980.

Butch had worked as a pipefitter for the Goodyear Tire Company in Topeka for nearly 30 years. He was a member of the Steelworkers Union #307 and the Zion Lutheran Church in Vassar.

On April 21, 1984, Butch was united in marriage to LuNelle "Nellie" Cox in Reading, Kansas. To this union two children were born, LouAnn and Tyler.

Butch was preceded in death by his son Tyler on August 13, 2023; by his parents, Bud and Erma; his two sisters, Patricia Yon and Mary Ann Bent.

Butch is survived by his wife, Nellie of 40 years; his daughter, LouAnn Brady of Topeka; his sister, Erma Douglas of Springfield, South Carolina; and six grandchildren.

Memorial services for Butch will be at 1:00pm on Saturday, April 20 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Vassar.  The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.  Inurnment will be in the Vassar Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions in memory of Butch may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church, sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Avenue, Lyndon, KS 66451.
