Obituary

Lyndon--Eloise McGeeney, 89, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at her home in Lyndon, Kansas. She was born on June 15, 1929 in Hiawatha, Kansas, the daughter of James and Eva Nigus Jones.
Eloise had lived in Hiawatha for many years before moving to Lyndon. She had worked as a Beautician, was owner and bookkeeper of Carpenter Drug Store with her husband Glenn and had worked for the Brown County Treasurers Office. She was owner and Bookkeeper of McGeeney Furniture and McGeeney Moving & Storage with her husband Bob. She then worked as a Comptroller at Lire, Inc. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Hiawatha and attended the Lyndon United Methodist Church.
Eloise was married to Glenn Carpenter. He preceded her in death on July 1, 1970. Eloise married Robert McGeeney on September 21, 1973 in Hiawatha.
Eloise was preceded in death by her daughter, Elysa Lovelady; her step-daughter, Kathy Blair; her parents, James and Eva; her brother, Jim Jones; and her two sisters, Rosalie Robertson and Darlene Head.
Eloise is survived by her husband Robert of the home; her son, Scott (Jeri) Carpenter of New Strawn; her two daughters, Angela Wright of Kansas City, Missouri and Denise (Rick) Chaffee of Overland Park; her step-son, Mark McGeeney of Theodosia, Missouri; her brother, Billy Jones of Seminole, Florida; eight grandchildren, Ben (Amy) Wright, Sam (Yuki) Wright, Jason Chaffee, Cassandra Lovelady, Jared Lovelady, Zachary Carpenter, Sheigh (Joel) Ormord and Tyler Carpenter; and five great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life for Eloise will be held at 11:30am on Saturday, February 23 at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. The family will receive friends from 10:30am until service time. Inurnment will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Hiawatha at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Help House or Lyndon United Methodist Church, sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Avenue, Lyndon, KS. 66451.
