Elizabeth Miller, 96, passed away on Friday, June 2, 2017 at Presbyterian Manor in Topeka, Kansas. She was born on October 22, 1920 in Lyon, County, Kansas the daughter of Charles and Nellie Thomas Gilliland.
Elizabeth had lived in Lyndon for 56 years before moving to Topeka in 2005.
Elizabeth was a Homemaker most of her life, but she had worked at Boeing in Wichita during World War II, at Smitty's Dress Shop in Lyndon and she was the Lyndon City Treasurer for two years. She was a member of the Lyndon United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women where she held several offices and Eastern Star . She had also been a member of several Bridge Clubs, which she enjoyed.
On July 8, 1942 Elizabeth was married to Lee Edward Miller in Emporia.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Ed on November 29, 2009; by her daughter, Diane Morris on December 23, 1987; her two brothers, Noble Gilliland and Orvin Gilliland; and by her sister, Mary Ellen Lynn.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Karen (Mike) Vannostran of Berryton; her son-in-law, Richard (Marla) Morris of Topeka; her sister, Ruby Morehead of Wichita; five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services for Elizabeth will be held at 4:00pm on Monday, June 5 at the Lyndon Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon from 3:00pm until departure for the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Lyndon United Methodist Church or the Red Carpet Service at the Topeka Library.
