Osage City - Edward "Pete" Peterson was born in Basehor, Kansas, on December 15, 1931. Ed was taken to heaven on March 8, 2023, joining his wife, Patricia Peterson, who left us in 2017. He is survived by his eight children, Ed (Re-Pete), Kent, Carol, Susan, Anne, Todd, Morgan, and Mary; and twenty grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

Ed grew up on a farm with his parents, six brothers and one sister. Many family gatherings with his parents, siblings, and their families over the years made for great memories.

Ed married Pat in 1953, and they started their family in 1954. Ed owned and managed a feed store and restaurant in Basehor until 1964, when he moved his family to Osage City. He bought Osage Grain elevator and created a liquid feed for cattle which was distributed throughout Kansas and Oklahoma. He provided jobs for many people from Osage City, and the elevator was also a gathering place for many "after hours" parties...the ensuing fun and funny stories are endless and continue to provide many memorable anecdotes. When he left the elevator business, he worked for KP&L buying easements from farmers across the State.

Ed had an incredible work ethic and remained dedicated to providing for his family throughout his working life. He also loved to have fun with friends and family. He always had a big smile on his face, and he never knew a stranger. He was a jokester and was lovingly referred to as ornery by many.

Ed was an excellent softball player and an avid golfer. He could run like the wind and was disappointed if he didn't come home with pars on his golf card. Most softball game nights and golf days ended with parties in the Peterson backyard which Ed personally designed and landscaped.

Ed also loved to tinker and "invent" in his shop - some interesting golf carts came from those ventures. He also had a huge garden every year. The family always waited for the summer tomato, and the shelves were stocked with delicious vegetables he and Pat canned together.

The legacy of Ed's joy, faith, love and zest for life will live on through his surviving family and friends.

A celebration of life for Ed will be at 9:00am on Monday, March 20 at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30pm on Sunday at the funeral chapel. Ed and Pat will be inurned at Holy Angels Cemetery in Basehor, Kansas on Monday following the celebration of life.
