Melvern-Duane Young, 88, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at the Sunset Manor in Waverly, Kansas. He was born on April 7, 1929 on the family farm southeast of Melvern, Kansas the son of Vincent and Agnes Andre Young.
Duane lived all of his life near Melvern and graduated from Melvern High School in 1947.
Duane was a Farmer and Stockman all of his life. He had also worked at Osage Products for a time and was a field assistant for ASCS in Lyndon. He was a member of the Melvern United Methodist Church.
On July 11, 1948 Duane was married to Veva Tompkins in Melvern.
Duane was preceded in death by his wife Veva on December 8, 2010 and by a daughter, Loretta Latta in 2005.
Duane is survived by his three sons, Alan (Linda) Young of Wichita, Mitchell ( Michelle) Young of Carbondale and Mark (Terry) Young of Topeka; his sister, Donita Hotchkiss of Topeka; seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Duane will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, May 6 at the Melvern United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:30 to 8:00pm at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. Burial will be in the Melvern Cemetery.
