Lyndon - Donald Herbert Garrett Sr., 80, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at the Osage Nursing Center in Osage City, Kansas. He was born on October 2, 1941, in Bagnell, Missouri, the son of Gerald and Icel (Platter) Garrett.
Don had lived in Kansas City, Kansas for many years and had moved to rural Lyndon in 1994.
He served for 27 years for the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department and retired as a Master Sergeant. He then served several years as the Lyndon Police Chief. He was a past president of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #4, was a member of the Kansas Association of Chiefs of Police, the Lyndon Lions Club, the Masonic Euclid Lodge #101 of Lyndon and served on the rural water district #6. He has been a member of the StoneyPoint Christian Church in Kansas City and then attended the Lyndon United Methodist Church.
On July 30, 1960, Don was united in marriage to Patricia Lambie in Kansas City, Kansas. To this union four children were born, Don, Jr., Patrick, James and Deborah.
Don is survived by his wife Patricia of 61 years; his three sons, Don (Windy) Garrett, Jr. of Kansas City, Patrick M. Garrett of Leavenworth and James R. (CarrolAnne) Garrett Sr. of Bonner Springs; his daughter, Deborah D. Garrett-Smith (Roger) of El Dorado; his brother, Robert (Dayna) Garrett of Overland Park; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Don will be held at 7:30pm on Wednesday, May 25 at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until service time Wednesday. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Cemetery in Kansas City, Kansas at 1:00pm on Thursday, May 26.
