Topeka--Don Masenthin, 77, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at his home in Topeka, Kansas. He was born on August 27, 1941, on a farm near Vassar, Kansas, the son of Walter and Lydia Poertner Masenthin.
Don grew up on a farm near Lyndon and Vassar, and had lived in Burlingame, Lyndon and Wichita before moving to Topeka.
Don had worked for Sears as a Service Tech and then Salesman and had been an agent for the Aid Association for Lutherans. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, where he had served as a Trustee and had been a member of the Lutheran Laymens League.
On August 5, 1961, Don was married to Janet Sue Jolly in Burlingame.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lydia; his brother, Marvin Masenthin; and his sister, Dorothy Bishop.
Don is survived by his wife Janet of the home; his three sons, Walter James Masenthin (Karin) of Lenexa, Donnie Leroy Masenthin, II (Tricia) of Lawrence and Ernest Masenthin Jolly (Jennifer) of Topeka; his two daughters, Annie Sue Peters (Bart) of Colorado and Johanna Jean Odell (Nick) of Colorado; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services for Don will be held at 10:00am on Monday, September 17 at the Faith Lutheran Church, 1716 SW Gage, in Topeka. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00pm on Sunday at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. Burial will be in the Vassar Cemetery.
