Obituary

Osage City - Dennis Clayton Wilkins, 80, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. He was born on December 6, 1945, in Bremerton, Washington, the son of Clayton and Alice (Oveson) Wilkins.

Dennis grew up in Osage City and graduated from Osage City High School in 1964. He had lived in Scranton and Topeka but had returned to Osage City several years ago.

Dennis served in the United States Navy from 1964 to 1968 during the Vietnam War. He worked for Montgomery Ward in the service department, then for Kansas Gas Service and then for Westar. He was a member of the VFW.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Alice; and by a sister, Carol Jinx on March 19, 1996.

Dennis is survived by his three sons, John Wilkins of Osage City, Deneil Wilkins of Leavenworth and Cameron Sweet of Georgia; his two daughters, Ameesah Hatch of Georgia and Michele Ponce of Wichita; his two brothers, Richard (Pam) Wilkins of Lawrence and Randy (Kim) Wilkins of Lyndon; by his sister, Teresa Fields of Osage City; seven grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00pm on Saturday, January 31 at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. Military honors will be rendered at the Osage City Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions in memory of Dennis may be made to Feltner Funeral Home, sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Avenue, Lyndon, KS 66451.
