SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA – Delton Alvin Masenthin, 79, of San Jose, California and formerly of Lyndon, Kansas passed away April 30, 2021 at his home in San Jose, California. He was born December 30, 1941 in Topeka, Kansas the son of Alvin August and Minnie Marie (Laue) Masenthin. He attended Vassar Grade School and graduated from Lyndon High School in 1960. He was a four-year letterman in football, played the trumpet in the band and was a trainer for the basketball team.

Delton graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Aerospace Engineering. He was a member of the ROTC program at K.U. as well as the Beta Sigma Si and Gamma Delta Fraternities.

After graduating from K.U., Delton served in the United States Army and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, Texas on June 17, 1965. He was a Missile Systems Maintenance Officer. He earned the rank of Captain and was Honorably discharged on June 16, 1968.

Delton started his working career for Lockheed Martin in Marietta, Georgia as a Design Specialist. He would eventually be transferred in 1976 within the company to San Jose, California where he would retire and live out the remainder of his life.

Delton is preceded in death by his parents; nine cousins, Don Laue, Daryl McIntosh, Herbert Haufler, Violet Guse, Irene Davis, Roland and Marilyn Masenthin and Lawrence and Kenneth Wigger.

He is survived by fourteen cousins: Walter Haufler of League City, Texas, Marie Wudtke of Collinsville, Illinois, Larry McIntosh of Brownsboro, Alabama, Jeanette Barns of Alabaster, Alabama, Janet Kadel of Redmon, Oregon, DeAnn Roames of Deming, Washington, Nancy Scheurerman of Topeka, Kansas, John Laue of San Antonio, Texas, Eva Anschutz of Lyndon, Kansas, Sharon Eilert of Beloit, Kansas, Darlene Havens of Topeka, Kansas, LaVone Rindt of Lyndon, Kansas, Elaine Schwartz and Evelyn Hulgren both of Topeka, Kansas.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Vassar, Kansas. A private family burial will take place at the Vassar Cemetery in Vassar, Kansas.
