Melvern--Debra Kay Reed, 59, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2016 at the Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas. She was born on July 10, 1956 in Burlington, Kansas, the daughter of Paul and Ruth Hursh Birk.

Debra grew up in Burlington, where she graduated from Burlington High School in 1974. She had lived west of Melvern since 1975. Debra had been a Homemaker all of her life and was a member of the Coffey County Cancer Support Group.

On July 12, 1974 Debra was married to Marvin Reed.

Debra was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Ruth Birk.

Debra is survived by her husband, Marvin of the home; her three children, Carrie (Jeremy) Lingenfelter of Osage City, Calvin (Gretchen) Reed of Berryton and Mike (Sunny) Reed of Anthony; her sister, Linda Cole of Emporia; her two brothers, Jerry Birk and Randy Birk, both of Burlington; and seven grandchildren.

Graveside services for Debra will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, June 29 at the Melvern Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00pm on Tuesday at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Coffey County Cancer Support Group, sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS. 66451.
