Melvern - Daryl Alan "Wolf Hunter" Patterson, 74, passed on to eternal life on Friday, February 7, 2025, at his home southeast of Melvern, Kansas, leaving behind a legacy of love for family and the outdoors. Born on August 22, 1950, on the family farm near Melvern, Kansas, Daryl was the only son of Gale and Dorothy (Fitch) Patterson, and he spent his entire life near the Melvern community.

After graduating from Melvern High School in 1968, Daryl embarked on a remarkable construction career, starting with the Corps of Engineers at the Melvern Lake project, then moving to Riley Equipment, and eventually becoming a Union Heavy Equipment Operator in the Local 101, which he was very proud of.  If he wasn't working you could find him enjoying his passions which were hunting, riding horses, fishing, and telling the stories. He attended Mt. Pleasant Community Church.

On November 4, 1972, Daryl was united in marriage to Gloria Ann Sloan in Lebo, and together they shared 52 incredible years, raising three remarkable sons, Dale, Darin, and Jeff.

Though Daryl was preceded in death by his parents, Gale and Dorothy, his memory lives on through his loving wife Gloria; his three sons, Dale Patterson, Darin (Marcia) Patterson, Jeff Patterson; three sisters, Nancy Yockey, Connie Butts, and Sandy Bullock; six grandchildren, Cody (Theresa) Patterson, Tristen Patterson, Lanie Patterson, Kali (Bryce) Isch, Braylee Patterson, and Bo Patterson; great-granddaughter Scout Isch; and countless relatives and friends who were blessed to have known him.

Funeral services for Daryl will be at 10:30am on Friday, February 14, at the Mt. Pleasant Community Church southeast of Lyndon. Burial will be in the Pleasantview Cemetery, east of Melvern. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Thursday at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. Memorial contributions in memory of Daryl may be made to Friends of COF or Quest Service Inc.
