Lyndon - Darrell Ray Sturdy, 85, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at his home on the Sturdy Farm near Lyndon, Kansas. He was born on October 1, 1940, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Cloyce and Ruth (Calkins) Sturdy.

Darrell had lived his whole life in the Lyndon Community. He graduated from Lyndon High School in 1959.

Darrell was a Cattleman and Farmer all of his life. He served 6 years in the United States Army Reserve. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Vassar, the Lyndon American Legion Post #125 and the Boot Scooters Dance Group.

On February 2, 1963, Darrell was united in marriage to Sandra Sue Schultz in the Zion Lutheran Church. To this union three sons were born, Rod, Jeff and Clint.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Cloyce and Ruth.

Darrell is survived by his wife Sandy of 63 years; his three sons, Rod (Lori) Sturdy of Lyndon, Jeff (LeAnn) Sturdy of Manhattan and Clint (Candi) Sturdy of Lyndon; his sister, Darlene (Terry) Ferris of Brush, Colorado; by his seven grandchildren; four step granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; one step great-great grandson; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Darrell will be held at 10:00am on Monday, June 29 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Vassar. Burial will be in the Lyndon Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:30pm on Sunday at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon.
