Carbondale - Darlene Sue Branson, 72, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at her home near Carbondale, Kansas. She was born on August 23, 1952, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Donald (Don) and Marjorie (Marge) Henry.  Upon Don's passing, Marge re-married to Donald Dean Prescott.

Darlene had lived most of her adult life in Carbondale. She graduated in the first class at Santa Fe Trail High School in 1970.

Darlene worked as a clerk at Skip's Thriftway in Carbondale for many years. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, baking, and spending time with family and friends.

On September 25, 1970, Darlene was united in marriage to Richard "Dick" Branson in Carbondale. To this union two children were born, Tammy and Bill.

Darlene was preceded in death by her father, Don Henry, her step-father, Dean Prescott, and her grandson, Shawn Harmon.

Darlene is survived by her husband Dick of over 54 years; her two children, Tammy (Heath) Roark of Cole Camp, Missouri and Bill (Michelle) Branson of Carbondale; her mother, Marge Prescott of Carbondale; her three sisters, Bonnie Corley, Dona Hewes, and Wanda Henry; her seven grandchildren, Jake, Mason, Rachel, Ryan, Alexis, Cody, and Dani; and four great-grandchildren, Ginny, Richard (RJ), Melody, and Robert (Bob).

Graveside memorial services for Darlene will be at 11:00am on Monday, June 30 at the Carbondale Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Osage County Fire District #1, sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Avenue, Lyndon, KS 66451.
