Lyndon - Daphne Elizabeth Bailey, 88, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at the Stormont-Vail hospital in Topeka, Kansas. She was born on November 26, 1935, in Norwich, Norfolk England, the daughter of Donald and Charlotte (Thrower) Potter.

Daphne had grown up in England, had lived in Berryton for several years before moving to Lyndon in 1975. This was also the year that she became a U.S. Citizen.

Daphne had worked for Kent Brown Automotive in Topeka and over 40 years as a tax preparer for Topeka Income Tax Service.

On August 4, 1962, Daphne was united in marriage to Vernon Bailey, Sr. in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She had her hands full raising 6 rowdy kids, Donald, Rebecca, Steve, Peggy, Jay and David.

Daphne was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon on January 11, 2010; by her daughter, Rebecca Cowser on August 27, 2013; by her parents, Donald and Charlotte; and by three grandchildren.

Daphne is survived by her five children, Donald (Sara) Hayes of Topeka, Steve (Janet) Hayes of Perry, Peggy (Kevin) Wischropp of Lyndon, Vernon "Jay" (Nicole) Bailey, Jr. of Osage City and David (Patti) Bailey of Lyndon; by twenty-six grandchildren and over fifty great-grandchildren.

A memorial service for Daphne will be held at 11:00am on Monday, November 4, at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00pm on Sunday at the funeral home.
