Lyndon – Clyde Marion Burns, 96, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at his home southwest of Lyndon. He was born on June 26, 1930, in Carbondale, Kansas, the son of Clyde and Mary (Haney) Burns.

Clyde grew up in Carbondale and then lived in Burlingame, graduating from Burlingame High School in 1949. He served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954, in the artillery, during the Korean War. When he returned from service, he earned his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Kansas in 1959. He has lived near Lyndon since 1955.

Clyde was an attorney, establishing Burns and Burns P. A. with his wife, then later Burns, Burns, Walsh and Walsh P. A. in Lyndon. He was the Osage County attorney from 1961-1963 and again in 1971-1973 and was on the Board of Directors of the Lyndon State Bank, purchasing the bank in 1989, where he was then president.

On June 1, 1951, Clyde was united in marriage to Marian Mussatto on the K.U. Campus at the Danforth Chapel. They were married for 75 years. To this union two children were born, Janet and Richard.

Clyde was preceded in death by his wife Marian, only six days earlier; by his parents, Clyde and Mary; and by a brother, Lloyd Burns.

Clyde is survived by his two children, Janet (Pat) Walsh of Lyndon and Richard (Carmen) Burns of Lyndon; by his six grandchildren, Alex (Vicky) Walsh, Nick (Ashlyn) Walsh, Joe (Madison) Walsh, Mason (Lisa) Burns, Sydney Walsh and Rylan Burns; by his five great-grandchildren, Waylyn, Clyde, Wyatt, Judah and Charley; and by his brother, Donald Burns (Carolyn) Topeka.

Funeral services for Clyde will be at 3:00pm on Friday, September 25 at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. The family will receive friends after the service until 4:30pm. Private family burial will follow at the Lyndon Cemetery.
