Osage City--Carol Michael, 80, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at the Osage Nursing Center in Osage City, Kansas. She was born on December 17, 1935 on the family farm southwest of Lyndon, the daughter of Floyd and Irene Griffith Peterson.

Carol had grown up in rural Osage County where she attended the Pan Teg School until 8th grade and then the family moved into Lyndon where she graduated from Lyndon High School in 1953. She had lived on the family farm since 1960.

Carol had attended K.U. for a semester and then began working for the telephone company in Topeka. She worked for the Lyndon Schools for a time in the lunchroom and then for Swanson Real Estate in Lyndon. She then attended Emporia State University where she earned her Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy. She worked for Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka as a Respiratory Therapist for five years and then in the business office for 23 years. She was a member of the Osage City First Presbyterian Church.

On October 6, 1957, Carol was married to Daryl Michael in Lyndon.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband Daryl on August 22, 2015; by a grandson, Cory Sprecker on September 26, 2015 and by her parents.

Carol is survived by her two children, Mark (Cathy) Michael of Buena Vista, Colorado and Kim (Devin) Sprecker of Lyndon; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Carol will be at 3:00pm on Monday, August 22 at the Osage City First Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends on Monday for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Lyndon Cemetery.
