Carbondale - Carol Lee Goodyear, 86, passed away on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Brookside Retirement Community in Overbrook, Kansas. She was born on April 2, 1939, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Chester and Laura (Oest) Cooper.

Carol had lived near Overbrook most of her life.

Carol worked as a bookkeeper for the Overbrook CO-OP for 15 years. She then attended Washburn University and received her Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. She then worked for a number of years for the State of Kansas in the Department of Administration. Carol liked sports, especially tennis and then pickleball. A great joy for her was adventure traveling.

On November 9, 1957, Carol was united in marriage to James Goodyear, Jr. in Overbrook. To this union two children were born, James III and Joni.

Carol was preceded in death by her son, James Goodyear III; and by her parents, Chester and Laura.

Carol is survived by her husband, Jim of over 67 years; by her daughter, Joni Smith and husband Neil of Overbrook; by her daughter-in-law, Sandy Goodyear of Carbondale; her sister, Patty Colson of Overbrook; her brother, John Cooper and wife Melissa of Manhattan; her five grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
