Melvern - Carl Clyde Shelinbarger, 87, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka, Kansas. He was born on October 14, 1938, on the family farm southeast of Melvern, Kansas, the son of Harold and Sarah (Smith) Shelinbarger.

Carl had lived all of his life on the farm near Melvern, and he graduated from Melvern High School in 1957.

Carl had worked his whole life as a farmer and stockman. He served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1961 as an Engineer Equipment Repairman.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Sarah; by his brother, Paul Shelinbarger; and by his two sisters, Mary Ann Goodrich and Erma Shelinbarger.

Carl is survived by his two nephews, Mark (Tammy) Goodrich of Melvern and Matt (Angie) Goodrich of Berryton; by his niece, Marla (David) Beers of Wakarusa; by several great-nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Graveside services for Carl will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, October 10 at the Waverly Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30pm on Friday at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon.
