Lyndon--Burris "Van" VanWey, 91, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at his home in Lyndon, Kansas. He was born on March 11, 1929 in Los Angeles, California, the son of William and Elsa (Borst) VanWey.
Van had lived in Lyndon for over 27 years, having lived in Kansas City, Burlingame and Topeka before that.
Van served in the United States Marine Corps from 1950 to 1952. He worked and retired from General Motors in Kansas City where he was an assemblyman and then inspector. He was a member of the Burlingame Masonic Lodge #79 and the United Auto Workers #31.
On March 26, 1969, Van was married to Janice Reitz in Miami, Oklahoma.
Van was preceded in death by his parents, William and Elsa; and by his sister, Louise Henery.
Van is survived by his wife Janice of 51 years; his three children, Vera Davis of Blue Springs, Missouri, William (Diane) VanWey of Chandler, Arizona and Susan (Frank) Edwards of Meriden; his brother, Kenneth VanWey of Kansas City, Missouri; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Van was cremated and no services are planned at this time.
