Waverly--Barbara Jean White, 71, passed away on Saturday January 30, 2016 at the Sunset Manor in Waverly, Kansas. She was born on July 2, 1944 in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter Cecil and Edna Briggs Leonard.

Barbara had lived in Waverly since 1976. She was a Registered Nurse and worked for Emporia Rehabilitation for several years, was the Director of Nursing for Sunset Manor for 5 years and then became Director of Nursing for COF in Burlington until her retirement in 2009.

On August 3, 1968 Barbara was married to Gary White in Kansas City, Missouri.

Barbara was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Denney; three brothers, Russell, Billy and Dale; and a sister, JoAnn.

Barbara is survived by her husband Gary of the home; her daughter, Kari Thornbrugh of Waverly; her three sons, Frank Denney of Oklahoma, Jeff Denney of California and Kenneth Walker of Oklahoma; her four brothers, James Leonard, Cecil Leonard, Richard Hodge and Robert Leonard; three sisters, Patty Carr of California, Rita Downs of Kansas City and Peggy Leonard; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Memorial services for Barbara will be at 2:00pm on Saturday, March 12 at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until service time. Inurnment will be in the Waverly Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions made payable to the Johnson Cancer Research Center, which is through K-State.
