Burlington – Barbara Sue Privat, 82, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at the Life Care Center of Burlington. She was born on September 30, 1943, in Piggott, Arkansas, the daughter of Howard and Eva (Banks) Bell.

Barbara grew up in Times Beach, Missouri, but had lived most of her life in Melvern. She had been in Burlington for the last three years.

Barbara had worked at BETO Junction as a baker of cinnamon rolls and then worked in housekeeping for Holthaus Motors in Osage City.

Barbara was united in marriage to Laryl Privat, Sr. on May 27, 1967, in Times Beach, Missouri. To this union three sons were born, Laryl "Larry" Jr., Russell "Rusty" and Clifford.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Laryl on September 4, 2015; by her parents, Howard and Eva; by her sister, Janice Fleer; and by her daughter-in-law, Lori Privat on October 19, 2023.

Barbara is survived by her three sons, Laryl "Larry" Privat, Jr. of Melvern, Russell "Rusty" Privat (Palmira Stewart) of Melvern and Clifford Privat of Nebraska; her brother, Howard Bell, Jr. of Union, Missouri; her five grandchildren; her ten great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Family and friends will gather from 10:00am until 11:30am on Saturday, August 22 at the Melvern Community Center. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30. Inurnment will be at a later date at the Melvern Cemetery.
