Ottawa - Anthony Wayne Drake, 45, passed away on July 16, 2023, at Baldwin City Healthcare and Rehab Center in Baldwin City, Kansas, after a short fight with cancer. He was born on September 7, 1977, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Charles and Diann (Abel) Drake.

Anthony grew up in Lyndon and graduated from Lyndon High School in 1996. He had lived in Osage City, Burlington and Ottawa with COF.

At the age of 18, Anthony participated in the World Special Olympics in New Haven, Conneticutt for Team USA, and won two bronze medals in powerlifting. He also won numerous medals in the Kansas Special Olympics in Track and Field, basketball and bowling.

Anthony was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles and JoAnne Drake; and his aunt, Nancy (Tevis) Abel.

Anthony is survived by his parents, Charles and Diann Drake of Vassar; maternal grandparents, John and Ruth Abel of Vassar; his sister, Nicole (Jeremy) Hager of Scranton; his three uncles, Gary (Susan) Drake of Lyndon, Mike Abel of Vassar and Marty (Pam) Abel of Independence, Missouri; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Life to remember Anthony will be from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Friday, July 28 at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Friends of COF, sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Avenue, Lyndon, KS 66451.
