Overbrook - Ann Elizabeth Brown, 86, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2026, at Brookside Retirement Community in Overbrook, Kansas. She was born on September 29, 1940, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Russel and Virginia (Finley) Chezem.

Ann had lived in Topeka and Emporia before moving to Overbrook.

Ann had worked as a bank secretary for most of her career. She was a member of the Overbrook Bible Church and the Sweet Adelines singing group in Emporia.

Ann was united in marriage to Jerald Brown on April 7, 2009, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Russel and Virginia.

Ann is survived by her husband, Jerald of over 17 years; by her son, Douglas Nyman of Newton; by her daughter, Lori Mercer of Emporia; by her brother, Steven Chezem of Kansas City; by several grandchildren; and by other relatives and friends.

Memorial services for Ann will be held on Friday, October 23 at 11:00am at the Overbrook Bible Church. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until service time. Inurnment will be in the ValleyBrook Cemetery, south of Overbrook. Family requests casual attire for the service.
