Alta Jo Kitt, 71, passed away on October 11,2014 at a Topeka hospital. She was born on June 16,1948 in Topeka, Kansas., the daughter of Asa and Esther Tindell Abney.

Alta Jo had lived in Lyndon and Osage City for many years and had lived in Auburn for a time before moving back to Osage City.

Alta Jo graduated from Osage City Rural High School in 1961. She worked for Hallmark Cards in Topeka and Osage City, then Peterson's Rest Home in Osage City and several convenience store's in Lyndon and Osage City. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Osage City and the United Presbyterian Church in Lyndon for over 50 years combined. She was a former member of the Harveyville Rebekah Lodge #616 where she was Noble Grand and District Secretary. She was elected to receive the Decoration of Chevory. She was a former member of the Shawnee LEA, the Topeka and Wamego LEA #36 and the Topeka Patiark Auxiliary Miliant #3. She was active in the Robert Heizer American Legion #198 Auxiliary Unit, serving as president for many years.

Alto Jo was married to Alvin Kitt in 1962 in Osage city. They later divorced.

Alta Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Asa and Esther and by her little dog and constant companion, Gizzie.

Alta JO is survived by her brother, Eber Abney of Manhattan; her friend Carol Bolyard of Osage City and many cousins.

Funeral services for Alta Jo will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 16 at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to services. Alta Jo will be cremated following services and her ashes will be buried in the Osage City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the H.Dale Buck Animal Welfare and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home 818 topeka Ave. Lyndon, Kansas 66451
