POMONA

Obituary

Pomona - Ada Ileen Kiehl, 97, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Advent Health in Ottawa, Kansas. She was born on July 25, 1928, in Smith Center, Kansas, the daughter of Frank and Bertha (Schriner) Jackson.

Ada grew up in western Kansas and Nebraska and had lived near Pomona for over 50 years.

Ada was a Homemaker all of her life. She took care of grandchildren and she worked alongside her husband on construction projects. She loved crocheting and fishing and her thumb was so green, she was a master of flowers and gardening. She could make anything grow and thrive. Ada looked forward to anything that her family was involved in, asking about the results, regardless of what the activity was. She would take pictures of events and looked forward to receiving pictures from any of the family. Ada was a wonderful cook and enjoyed baking desserts, which brought all the family together for Sunday dinners. She enjoyed her time visiting with her family, friends and neighbors.

Ada was united in marriage to Clifford Henry Kiehl on September 21, 1946. To this union two children were born, Donald and Linda.

Ada was preceded in death by her husband, Cliff on March 23, 2019; by her parents, Frank and Bertha; by her daughter, Linda Sleichter; by her two brothers, Bernard Jackson and Howard Jackson; by her sister, Ellen Porterfield; and by a grandson, Shaon Sleichter.

Ada is survived by her son, Donald (Barbara) Kiehl of Pomona; by her five grandchildren, Steve (Juanita) Sleichter, Scott (Dymie) Sleichter, Bryon (Leslie) Kiehl, Shelly (JW) Hawkins, Kristen (Scott) Flanary; by her twelve great-grandchildren, Heather (Chris) Pitts, Arik Sleichter, Rachel Webb, Matthew Sleichter, Cooper Kiehl, Ava Hawkins, Henry Hawkins, Kiel Flanary, Emery Hawkins, Riley Flanary, Kinsey Flanary and Rinley Flanary; by her four great-great-grandchildren, Kale Pitts, Kase Pitts, Madison Webb and Fisher Webb; other relatives and friends.
